What's this blog really about?

You may notice a variety of topics here - from business, to charity promotion, even to local news, but the primary reason this blog was created was to alert readers to the hostile atmosphere and sexual harassment at The Danville Register & Bee. The readers and creator of this blog want a FULL FRONT PAGE apology in the Danville Register & Bee, plus the disciplining of those individuals involved. Until then, we'll continue to post regular updates. To tolerate THIS kind of behavior by a major media network is intolerable. And this isn't just ONE instance. Media General has been sued nationwide for racism and sexism, yet they CONTINUE to keep the offenders employed. Why? And why am I doing this? TRUTH compels me.

4th of July....Columbus Day...media conspiracies

Why has the local media been silent about the problems at The Danville Register & Bee? Because they're either experiencing the same situations in their offices or don't want to say anything bad about another outlet. Like doctors, lawyers, police - each profession "protects its own," often to the detriment of all involved. The problem is, when the media covers up it alters a lot of things - local history, the reality of news in an area and so on.

Do industries thinking of relocating to Danville understand that the reason for the large unemployment here is because so many people can't pass a simple drug test?? It's true. If you attend any public meetings you'll hear everyone from the school board to the city council and board of supervisors bemoan the run-away drug use and the inability of people to pass drug tests. But does that make it into the newspaper? No. If it did then people might understand there's a problem, that the police NEED more officers, better pay, more training and help in combating the drug problem.

Is the hope that industry will come here and somehow people will QUIT using drugs because there are jobs now? Not likely. Once an industry relocates - it's hard to pick up and move.

But the local media, even the national media - has a compelling need to misinform and let the American people see the current situation as well as history and the news in a light the media deems "appropriate." THE MEDIA SHAPES YOUR LIVES. Are you Black? Are you female? Do you understand that Media General isn't doing anything because they don't think they have to? Their real policy - unwritten of course - is to get rid of anyone who MIGHT bring a lawsuit against them. They don't care so much about the folks perpetuating the illegal behavior. They want those opposed to the behavior fired.

When a history expert told Katie Couric that Christopher Columbus didn't, as history tells us, have a happy, mutual "appropriate-for-a-third-grade-Thanksgiving-play" kind of relationship with the Native Americans, the network refused to air his comments. Apparently Christopher Columbus raped, pilaged and enslaved the natives, cut off the hands of any male over 14....but here, watch for yourself:

Understand that looking the other way when something is wrong is what the newspapers do best - unless they can figure out a way to sell papers with it.
