What's this blog really about?

You may notice a variety of topics here - from business, to charity promotion, even to local news, but the primary reason this blog was created was to alert readers to the hostile atmosphere and sexual harassment at The Danville Register & Bee. The readers and creator of this blog want a FULL FRONT PAGE apology in the Danville Register & Bee, plus the disciplining of those individuals involved. Until then, we'll continue to post regular updates. To tolerate THIS kind of behavior by a major media network is intolerable. And this isn't just ONE instance. Media General has been sued nationwide for racism and sexism, yet they CONTINUE to keep the offenders employed. Why? And why am I doing this? TRUTH compels me.

Yep...

Just like I predicted....the good old boys are complaining about this site. ANYTHING to draw attention away from the FACT THAT AN R&B REPORTER FILMED women without their consent and people like Robert Benson, Arnold Hendrix and Bernard Baker laughed about the comments and the video and Publisher Steve Kaylor did nothing to punish anyone and fires or forces out anyone who complains. Yup. Easier to say I didn't do my job (in spite of all the awards and kudos) than to admit they were wrong. Gee....more than two dozen people haven't done their jobs....been forced out, fired, laid off....and more to come.

They can't argue the FACTS can you? :^P

In the meantime - it's costing Media General a pretty penny...according to the thousands of hits on this site about several hundred of the hours spent reading it come from Media General computers in Danville, Lynchburg, Tampa - all over the country...Media General's folks are wasting time on this little ole blog at a tune of ??? How much money?? Lets see....$10 an hour times 500 hours = $5,000?? Isn't that a waste of precious resources? Seems to me that that's proof positive Media General types fritter away on personal stuff at work....wouldn't you say? Hey - if they're reading this - they're getting NOTHING done. But that's not unusual. Besides, they're just sitting around waiting for a crash or a fire or a shooting. That's what sells papers and they're all about the money...not about community. Don't believe me? Look at the website's top stories. Blood and gore sells so that's what readers get - not because they're interested in blood and gore, but because they'll BUY the paper to find out if a friend was a victim. That's what Danville is to Media General - a cash machine.

If they cared about the people in Danville they'd do more local news, apologize for humiliating local business women and treat their employees with respect.

Now, isn't there news to get out? Aren't there women to videotape and car crashes to cover? So why are all the Media General folks reading this blog? Steve - it's Media General money they're burning. Better issue a memo....no, wait, the lawyers don't want you putting anything in writing....maybe you could have a meeting and whine at folks. That's never worked in the past, but who knows! Things change! After all - there's a reader here who says the R&B is a great place to work! Maybe people will become inspired.
