What's this blog really about?

You may notice a variety of topics here - from business, to charity promotion, even to local news, but the primary reason this blog was created was to alert readers to the hostile atmosphere and sexual harassment at The Danville Register & Bee. The readers and creator of this blog want a FULL FRONT PAGE apology in the Danville Register & Bee, plus the disciplining of those individuals involved. Until then, we'll continue to post regular updates. To tolerate THIS kind of behavior by a major media network is intolerable. And this isn't just ONE instance. Media General has been sued nationwide for racism and sexism, yet they CONTINUE to keep the offenders employed. Why? And why am I doing this? TRUTH compels me.

Media General layoffs

Media General's Tampa Tribune's newsroom will lose more employees. According to reports, 11 newsroom staffers will be cut this week with another 10 news jobs to be eliminated by early fall. At least they got some notice. Wonder if someone just handed THEM a box and said "Get out."

A story on The Tribune's website says the newsroom will have about 200 employees after the staff reductions. One of the comments on the Tampa Tribune website from a former Media General employee said:

I worked for Media General many years ago. They were not my favorite employer to say the least. The management style was that people are a commodity, buy and sell at will and completely disposable.

Maurice - You're right! Most of the comments are less than favorable...but that's not surprising. People, including those at The Danville Register & Bee, don't like being treated like a commodity....unless you fit into their deviant category...according to a recent blogger here...
