If the newspaper had dug into what several DOVES (Domestic Violence Shelter)volunteers and staff members said was embezzlement of funds from the organization last year would we be able to help MORE victims of crime in Danville and the county? What good does it do to replace the funds that were "misappropriated" in the first place?
Did The Danville Register & Bee follow up on that? Why not? Could it be that they don't really care about women who are abused? They've sure done their fair share of humiliating local women. Seems like a newsroom that thinks its funny to film and laugh about women's breasts (both well known business women in town) wouldn't place a lot of emphasis on victims.
To the gentlemen who came to me with the story of the Sheriff's deputy who sexually assaulted your loved one - I was not allowed to write the story. It might have negatively impacted the Sheriff's race. As I was told on so many stories by Arnold, "Do this story. I can't because I go to church with Mike Taylor."
Mike is a fine man and a fine sheriff as far as I know. But I'd like to see him praying a little more over his friend the newspaper editor. No offense Mike. But all the gangs aren't out on the streets.
What's this blog really about?
You may notice a variety of topics here - from business, to charity promotion, even to local news, but the primary reason this blog was created was to alert readers to the hostile atmosphere and sexual harassment at The Danville Register & Bee. The readers and creator of this blog want a FULL FRONT PAGE apology in the Danville Register & Bee, plus the disciplining of those individuals involved. Until then, we'll continue to post regular updates. To tolerate THIS kind of behavior by a major media network is intolerable. And this isn't just ONE instance. Media General has been sued nationwide for racism and sexism, yet they CONTINUE to keep the offenders employed. Why? And why am I doing this? TRUTH compels me.
